Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Group Sales Representative is responsible for performing Marketing and Group Sales duties including answering telephones, answering guest/group inquiries, printing and mailing tickets and posters to scheduled groups, receiving and distributing mail, and other duties as assigned by management in accordance with company policies and procedures.

 

Job Requirements/Essential Functions of the Job:

  • The Group Sales Representative is required to have a good understanding and knowledge of Lagoon and the basic functions and operation of its various departments. Specific departments that the Group Sales Representative must have an excellent understanding and knowledge of include Ticketing, Admissions, Group Foods (catering), and Picnics. The Group Sales Representative must learn the functions, limits, policies, procedures, and pricing that apply to each of these departments.

  • The Group Sales Representative will be required to have a good understanding of the fundamentals of selling. This experience comes through a combination of formal training (education) and employment experience. The Group Sales Representative will be required to develop a pool of potential leads for business by either going door-to-door at business parks, scanning local business tabloids, third party leads, or any other method. The Group Sale Representative must follow-up on all inquiries and be prepared to make presentations to groups.

  • The Groups Sale Representative will confirm previous year’s group events by making calls throughout the off season.

  • The Group Sales Representative will assist in mailing group picnic brochures to previous year groups as well as potential new groups.

  • The Group Sales Representative will be using an AS400 computer program to schedule and plan group events. Through the AS400 the Group Sales Representative will be entering information for tickets, posters, meal plans, and other group arrangements as needed. The Group Sales Representative must be fast, efficient, and accurate when inputting information into the AS400 programs to assure accurate tickets, and meal plans.

  • The Group Sales Representative will work closely with the Group Food Department by supplying them catering work orders no later than two weeks before the scheduled event. The Group Sales Representative will be responsible for supplying the Group Foods Department with accurate meals and counts no less than one week before the scheduled event.

  • The Group Sales Representative will make sure that correct posters, admission tickets and meal tickets are distributed to groups for their scheduled event. This may require deliveries to key accounts.

  • The Group Sales Representative must greet each picnic chairman on the day of their scheduled event to assure that everything they requested has been taken care of and to see that their expectations are met. In addition, the Group Sales Representative may be required to assist the group by lifting, hanging signs, making deliveries, and helping in other department at any given time; the Sales Representative shall be physically able to accomplish a variety of tasks which require the use of all four limbs.

  • The Group Sales Representative will be responsible for setting up consignment programs for groups. This includes: Keeping all groups supplied with ample tickets, posters, and meal tickets throughout the season, collecting monthly payments and closing out all accounts and balancing them.

  • The Group Sales Representative will be responsible for collecting a Terms of Payment form before all scheduled group events and assist in the payment collection as needed.

  • The Group Sales Representative will respond to all comments that are negative in nature on Service Questionnaires.

  • The Group Sales Representative must be a team player with all employees in the Marketing Departments as well as other departments on the park.

  • The Group Sales Representative will be expected to take an active part in the following meetings: Weekly Staff Meeting, Planning Meeting (which is held weekly during the operating season), and other meetings as directed by Lagoon Management.

  • The Group Sales Representative must exhibit a high degree of motivation toward ensuring guest satisfaction by displaying an aggressively friendly approach to service guests. In addition, the Group Sales Representative must be able to deal with many guests each day in a positive and friendly manner.

  • During training periods, the Group Sales Representative must be able to read and assimilate information provided in the Marketing Manual and the Company Policy and Procedures Manual, and comprehend verbal instructions from the training supervisor.

  • The Group Sales Representative will be working around high noise levels resulting from amusement rides and various food service equipment. The Group Sales Representative must be able to remain focused on the job while dealing with interruptions from guests and/or other employee contact.

  • The Group Sales Representative must be willing to conform to Lagoon’s grooming and personal hygiene requirements and adhere to the dress code standards. A neat, clean, professional appearance is required at all times.

  • The Group Sales Representative must be willing and able to perform all other job duties and assignments as assigned by management.

 

Required Relationships:

  • The Group Sales Representative will work closely with all levels of personnel on the park. The Group Sales Representative must maintain a friendly, professional rapport with guests and employees on the park.

  • The Group Sales Representative represents Lagoon with the public and leaders of major corporations. These individuals form their opinions of Lagoon through this contact. It is, therefore, important that Staff members portray Lagoon in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner.

 

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time salaried position. Full-time salaried employees are at-will and may be terminated at any time, with or without cause and/or notice. A full-time salaried employee is regularly scheduled to work on average forty (40) hours per week in a 12-month period. Full-time salaried employees will be paid a monthly salary.

 

This position requires the employee to be willing and able to work a variable weekly schedule, five-six days a week from as early as 5:00 a.m. to as late as 1:00 a.m. including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A full-time salaried employee agrees to work as scheduled by Lagoon. Due to the seasonal nature of Lagoon’s business, the work schedule of a full-time salaried employee may vary from an average of thirty-five (35) to forty-five (45) hours per week and may exceed fifty (50) hours per week during peak operational times.

 

Lagoon is a “seasonal amusement or recreational establishment” under the Fair Labor Standards Act and Utah law. Therefore, all Lagoon employees are exempt from the overtime and minimum wage provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and Utah law.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Job Qualifications are stated in the essential functions of the job description. The Group Sales Representative must be able to accomplish essential functions of the job in order to be competent in the job.

  • Must have a valid drivers’ license.

  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions to perform specific tasks.

  • Protect the Company from loss of assets.

  • Use equipment properly to avoid damage, loss, or injury.

  • Clean work area daily or more often as needed.

  • Watch for and report any unsafe working conditions.

  • Be safety conscious.

  • Remain current on changes within OSHA, Workers Compensation, and park liability insurance.

  • Answer a multi-line telephone system professionally and quickly.

  • Able to type minimum of 40 words per minute.

  • Able to use a word processing program as well as spread sheet software.

  • Able to produce professional, accurate computer reports.

  • All other duties as assigned by management.

  • Able to work in a considerably noisy environment from equipment and amusement rides.

  • Able to perform work duties outside in varying weather conditions prevalent at the time.
